ACTOR Jason Biggs has revealed whether an American Pie reboot is in the works ahead of the film’s 25th anniversary in an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun.
The comedy film will be celebrating its anniversary on July 9, 2024 – 25 years after the first movie of the series came out.
Additional sequels that were released include American Pie 2 (2001), American Wedding (2003), and American Reunion (2012).
From 2005 until most recently in 2020, there were spin-offs of American Pie, including Band Camp and Girls’ Rules.
The stars of the original film include Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy, Sean William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Chris Klein, and Jennifer Coolidge.
When asked if there would be a reboot of American Pie, Jason said to The U.S. Sun, “I hope so! I love doing those movies, so we’ll see.
“I mean, I love them. I would love to do another one.
“It’s the most fun I’ve ever had playing a role.”
Jason starred as Jim Levenstein, the main protagonist in the saga.
While attending the New York City Second Chance Rescue 4th Annual Rescue Ball on April 17 with his wife Jenny Mollen, the actor explained what would need to happen to make a reboot work.
“It’s just there’s a lot of moving parts. There’s a lot that has to sort of fall into place, but I’m certainly down,” Jason, 45, told The U.S. Sun.
“There’s a couple of great story ideas, but who knows?
“We honestly, all know it’s 25 years this summer, so it’s a great opportunity for me to sort of take inventory and realize just how lucky I’ve been. It’s really awesome.”
The New Jersey native recently reunited with his on-screen father, Eugene Levy, on March 8 in Hollywood.
The Schitt’s Creek actor was receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and had Jason his “second son, Jim” fill in since his “first” son Dan Levy couldn’t make the special ceremony.
“Eugene’s the best,” Jason gushed. “Very well-deserved star on the Walk of Fame.”
MAKING IT WORK
Jason and Jenny were receiving their own award at the animal charity organization’s event that was held at Sony Hall.
The couple were the night’s honorees, along with philanthropist Wayne Schumer, for their work with rescuing dogs.
The duo celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary on April 22.
When asked what’s their secret to a long-lasting marriage, Jenny, 44, quipped, “Therapy! Yes, lots of therapy.”
Jason added, “What she said. And rescuing dogs. Dogs also help.”
“I’m so excited to finally be acknowledged for all of my rescue work because Jason won a Peta award, which I do feel like I had a part in because we went hard against SeaWorld with all the Shamu stuff,” Jenny said.
“So I’m excited to finally join him as an animal activist [and be] acknowledged on a world stage.”
In 2014, Jason starred in an anti-Seaworld Peta video.
Jenny hosts a Dear Media podcast, All The Fails, and recently interviewed her husband about his past alcohol addiction, being in the spotlight, and their marriage.
Jason dealt with alcoholism in the past, publicly acknowledging the struggle in an Instagram post celebrating one year sober in 2018.
“I’ve managed to put together one year of sobriety. I’m as proud of it as anything in my life,” he wrote on Instagram at the time.
“If you’re struggling, know there’s help. Don’t be ashamed. We can do this.”
