On Wednesday, Disney took to social media to unveil the 17-second clip.

In the teaser, a silhouette of Moana (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho) could be seen on the beach blowing into a conch shell.

The company also shared an exclusive pic of Moana and her pal, Maui (voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), on a boat while looking at a fish glowing underwater.

The movie is set to premiere in theaters on November 27.

‘VERY SUDDEN’

Fans flocked to X, formerly Twitter, to share their mixed reactions on the upcoming sequel.

One said, “Well this is very sudden, but we will be watching!”

“This is so out of left field honestly,” expressed another.

A third posted, “This is gonna be so good!”

“WHAT IVE BEEN ASKING FOR,” exclaimed a fourth.

Meanwhile, others questioned why it was getting a sequel.

“Just because it was good, doesn’t mean it needs a sequel,” one pointed out.

A second said, “I thought the first one ended with perfect closure.”

THE LIVE-ACTION REMAKE

A live-action Moana featuring Dwayne is also in the works that’s reportedly set to release in late June 2025.

However, Auli’i revealed in May 2023 that she will not be reprising her role in the film– but will be executive producing it.

The Hollywood actress said in an Instagram video, “When I was cast as Moana at 14, it wonderfully changed my life and started my career.

“In this live action retelling, I will not be reprising the role. I believe it is absolutely vital that the casting accurately represents the characters and stories we want to tell, so as an executive producer on the film, I cannot wait to help find the next actress to portray Moana’s courageous spirit, undeniable wit, and emotional strength,” she concluded.

Meanwhile, last November, Dwayne revealed to Jimmy Fallon that his next project was the Moana live-action film.

“You’re real life Maui!” Jimmy exclaimed.

“I am the real life Maui. Thank you guys very much. I’m so excited about this,” the former WWE star said.

In an Instagram post, the Fast and Furious actor went more into detail about his role.

“It’s my privilege to share our legends, songs, and dance of our Polynesian culture with all of you and your families.”

THE FIRST MOVIE

Moana was launched into theaters on November 23, 2016 and completely dominated the box office.

To date, the film has made over 680million at the box office internationally.

THE ATTRACTION

Last summer, Disney World debuted a Moana attraction at Epcot in Orlando, Florida called Journey of Water.

Guests are able to explore the attraction via a walking trail that has interactive games throughout.

This includes the “strings of water” which play music, as well water fountains you can ‘conduct’ with your hands.

Along with Moana, there is also a huge grass figure of the goddess Te Fiti.

Imagineer Reid Ekmand said: “Along with Moana as a steward of water conservation, Te Fiti is a symbol of how we should protect and nurture water wherever we find it.

“This is an important theme in Journey of Water, where guests will learn more about how water travels from our skies to the ocean, and back again.

“This story will unfold along a lush trail inspired by the environments and art style of the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film.”
