JENNA Ortega’s role in the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel has been confirmed.
Fans wondered since she was announced for the film if she was playing Lydia’s daughter or not.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel of the 1988 film of the same name, is set to be released on September 6.
Michael Keaton played the titular character, who is from the Netherworld and tries to scare away the recently deceased ghosts who won’t leave their house.
Now, he is back with Winona Ryder and Catherina O’Hara, as well as new additions Jenna, 21, and Monica Bellucci.
Until now, fans were not sure what Jenna’s role was in the sequel.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, the Wednesday star confirmed that she is playing Lydia Deetz’s (Winona) daughter.
The outlet asked her what her role was in the film or if she could share anything about her story.
“I don’t know how much I’m allowed to say, but I am Lydia Deetz’s daughter, so I’ll give that away,” Jenna said.
“She’s weird, but in a different way and not in the way you’d assume, I would say. The relationship between Lydia and Astrid, my character, is very important.”
“And it’s also really strange because it’s a lot of catching up and putting the pieces together of what’s gone on in Lydia’s life since, which is nice, I think, for anybody who loves the character and is excited to see her again.”
WHO IS LYDIA?
In the original film, Lydia is Beetlejuice’s best friend.
She is the daughter of Charles Deetz and the step-daughter of Delia Deetez.
Lydia, the “goth girl,” is from New York City and moved to Wisconsin with her family.
Beetlejuice planned on marrying her so he could return to the land of the living.
She defined herself as “strange and unusual.”
Winona is back to reprise the role in the sequel.
HOW ASTRID IS DIFFERENT
Vanity Fair replied, “I’m trying to imagine what Lydia’s daughter would be like. If you were to be the rebellious, weird daughter of Lydia Deetz, I imagine somebody who’s bright and sunny and cheerful.”
Jenna laughed before she answered.
“I wouldn’t say she is bright and sunny at all,” she said.
“She doesn’t go to the opposite end of the spectrum, but any kid who becomes a teenager wants to be removed from their parents. I think they instantly just fight whatever it is that their parent loves.”
“So I think it’s a little bit of that. I’m not wearing pink and a cheerleader, but I am a little bit against my mom’s history or past. We butt heads quite a bit,” Jenna ended.
