JAKE Gyllenhaal has completely transformed himself in body and mind.
His new movie, Road House, the remake of the 1989 classic, is now streaming, and the actor has noticeably trimmed down while bulking up.

Jake, 43, is now down to five percent body fat all thanks to his trainer, Jason Walsh.
Jason, 48, and the actor began training together over a year before Jake began filming the movie.
“I knew at this point that it takes a village,” Jake told Men’s Health.
In addition to working with his trainer, Jake also coordinated with the stunt and fight crew and a dietician to get him to look and move like a former UFC fighter.
However, it mostly came down to Jake to put in the work.
“You can have a great trainer, a great program, great team—none of this matters if you don’t have the right person to do it all,” his trainer said.
“Jake did the work. He earned it.”
Jake shared with the magazine how he went from 205 pounds to 184 pounds and only 5% body fat.
EXERCISE TRAINING
The training program that Jake used to slim down for the movie took several phases.
It started with a baseline to establish conditioning, then moved on to a hypertrophy phase to build muscle, and a sport-specific phase to make sure he could perform the moves he needed to do on camera.
Jason broke down the exercise regimen even further with the publication.
Jake had to use mobility sticks to improve his range of motion.
He also used a Proteus motion machine, which warmed up his joints and established the moving patterns he would need on set.
Jake’s workout also included safety bar squats, heavy sled pushing and pulling, isometric rolls, forearm drills, chain pushups, punching loaded bags, suspension trainer push and pull, push-pull rips, and climber sprints.
WHAT HE ATE
Although exercise is important, Jake also had to follow a strict diet in order to get the body he wanted.
The actor, who loves to cook, had to give up sweets for the role.

He never skipped meals though.
“In this case, there were things that were taken away, but I had a hell of a lot more calories that I could consume,” Jake shared.
However, Jake had a hard time digesting whey protein supplements, so his team and his trainer had to make plant-based drinks for him.
The drink is now on the market as Rise311.
A dietician helped him to nail down the proper meal plan for him.
The actor didn’t explicitly share the food that he ate aside from the protein drinks.
ROAD HOUSE REMAKE

In the remake of Road House, Jake plays UFC fighter, James Dalton.
Dalton was the character that was played by Patrick Swayze in the original film.
Jake’s character takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse.
However, he learns that paradise and the job is not all that it seems.
The remake also stars Conor McGregor, Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, and Post Malone, among others.
Road House (2024) is now available to stream on Prime Video.
