ADAM Sandler has revived one of his iconic movie characters for a sequel.
Adam’s costar Christopher McDonald, who played Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore, has revealed that a second instalment is in the works.

The actor revealed this week that Adam has completed the first draft of the script for Happy Gilmore 2, according to Variety.
Christopher, 69, appeared on Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan and dished that he ran in to Adam, 57, about two weeks ago when he pulled out the script.
“He says to me, ‘McDonald, you’re gonna love this,” he shared.
“I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘How about that,’ and he shows me the first draft of ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’”
Christopher then told the radio station to maybe cut that part out of the interview because he “doesn’t want to be a liar” in case it doesn’t happen.
However, the actor did say that the sequel to the hilarious sports movie is in the works because fans have demanded it.
THE ORIGINAL
Adam starred in and co-wrote Happy Gilmore in 1996.
Dennis Dugan directed it, but it is not clear if he is coming back for the sequel.
Happy Gilmore is a hockey player who has some anger issues.
During the movie, he discovers that he is also really good at golf.
So, he joins a tournament to win, so he can use the money for his grandmother’s house as she is about to lose it.
Happy faces off against Shooter and becomes a golf hero.
Julie Bowen and Carl Weathers, who passed away in February, also starred in the film.
Happy Gilmore made over $40 million at the box office and is still one of Adam’s most popular movies today.
‘A TRUE GREAT MAN’
Last month Adam paid tribute Carl, who died on February 1 at the age of 76.
The actor shared a photo of him to Instagram, writing, “A true great man. Great dad. Great actor. Great athlete. So much fun to be around always.”
“Smart as hell. Loyal as hell. Funny as hell. Loved his sons more than anything. What a guy!! Everyone loved him.”
“My wife and I had the best times with him every time we saw him. Love to his entire family and Carl will always be known as a true legend,” he ended.
The actor “died peacefully in his sleep,” according to his family.
He played Derick “Chubbs” Peterson, a pro golfer who was forced to retire when his hand was bitten off by an alligator, in Happy Gilmore.

HAPPY FANS
Once the news of the sequel was posted to X, formerly Twitter, fans expressed their excitement over it.
“I hope it’s just as funny. #AdamSandler and his old writing team need to gather around and make more funny movies. #HappyGilmore in my top 3 comedy films of all time,” wrote one fan.
“This is very good news,” said another.
“I do not care if this bombs, I will be watching every second of this!!” a fan tweeted.
A fan suggested that the sequel should be about Happy and Shooter’s sons.
“I’m in,” wrote another fan.
